Not Sentimental

“I’m not sentimental–I’m as romantic as you are. The idea, you know,
is that the sentimental person thinks things will last–the romantic
person has a desperate confidence that they won’t.”
― F. Scott Fitzgerald, This Side of Paradise

Strange Geographies

Dim lights and soft sounds
Strange geographies
Familiar anatomies
That spot on her neck
Her scent
Finger tips staining our memories
Each touch
Grazing our skin ever so lightly
Beads of sweat
Dizzy headed spiraling down
Nerves burning
Shaking and shuttering
Even if just for a little while
These moments never last
Maybe it’s better this way
But, oh please
